In 2004, a group of Appomattox residents felt the call of God to start a new Baptist church. Devoted to mission and a belief that God calls all people equally to worship and service, this group met for its first Bible study at the Appomattox American Legion Hall on May 16, 2004. That Bible study group soon became Grace Hills Baptist Church and moved to a former liquor store before arriving at its current location on Pumping Station Road.
In its 15-year history, Grace Hills has grown and thrived as a mission outpost for the kingdom of God. The congregation meets each Sunday for Bible study at 10:00 and worship at 11:00. Wednesdays include Bible study, mission education, and fellowship dinners. The musicians in our midst meet on Thursday nights to practice, and many members of the congregation engage in mission opportunities throughout the week.
