When I Visit
Grace Hills is a very welcoming congregation, and we want your Sunday visit with us to be as enjoyable as possible! To help with that, we thought you might like to know some basic information about how Sunday morning happens.
Grace Hills has plenty of parking in the lot to the right of the church building, with both paved spaces and a gravel lot. Handicapped spaces are available in the front of the church and are clearly marked.
In the event of inclement weather, or if you have someone with you who has difficulty walking, there is a covered drop-off point that enters the church through the fellowship hall.
There are several entrances to the church. If you are joining us for Sunday School, we recommend you enter through the fellowship hall (doors under the drop-off cover) to enjoy a pre-Sunday School snack. If you are joining us for worship at 11:00, greeters are waiting to help you find seats or answer any questions at the front door of the church.
What's Worship Like?
A typical Grace Hills worship service includes traditional hymns, responsive readings, Scripture, prayers, an offering, special music, and a sermon. It starts at 11:00 AM and usually lasts about an hour. The music is traditional, and the sermon is typically a practical application of biblical truth.
Once a month, on the first Sunday, we observe communion in one of two ways. Usually, we pass a plate with bits of bread, and then one with small cups of juice, which we consume at the same time. Other times, we invite worshippers to come forward to tear a piece of bread from a common loaf and dip it in a cup before eating the bread individually. Everyone is invited to participate in communion.
What to Wear
While many people at Grace Hills wear "traditional church clothes," including neckties, sports coats, dresses, or nice slacks, any modest attire is welcome. People attend wearing jeans, khakis, sweaters, and sneakers as well.
In the summer, we observe "comfortable worship." Everyone is encouraged to wear whatever makes them feel comfortable in worship, and most folks embrace the opportunity to dress more casually during the hot summer months.
What About My Kids?
Children are important, and we want to help you provide for their spiritual growth! Each worship service includes a children's moment, led either by the pastor or by another adult volunteer. Following the children's moment, children aged 5 through 5th grade are invited to attend children's church with adult teachers. We also offer a nursery during Sunday School and worship for children from birth to age 4.
Please note that we are in the process of updating our safety protocols for our children's and youth workers. That information will be posted on our website soon.
After the Service
When worship is over, the pastor greets worshippers at the front door of the church. Parents can pick up their children in our nursery (for younger children) or in the Family Life Center (for school-aged children).
We hope this helps! If you have any additional questions about Sundays at Grace Hills, you can call the office at 434-352-8847, or e-mail Pastor Adam at [email protected].
We hope to see you soon!
