UPDATED COVID-19 GUIDELINES  --  November 16, 2020

Yesterday, after worship, the Grace Hills church council met to discuss the recent updates to COVID-19 measures by Governor Northam. On Friday, November 13, the governor put out guidelines that require social gatherings to be no more than 25 in attendance. However, his office clarified that this does not apply to religious services. (It does apply to social events held by a church). The church council took this as an opportunity to discuss our responsibilities as a church to promote safety and ensure community health to the best of our ability. While we are not at this time changing our worship plan, we are making a few shifts in how we are promoting safe practices.

First, we continue to require face masks and physical distancing for worship attendance. As we have gone through this pandemic, the church family has done a fantastic job in observing these safe practices. Pastor Adam has, at the request of the council, prepared a video to reiterate those safe practices as we continue meeting for worship. Wearing masks, maintaining six-foot distances, and practicing hand hygiene are key.

Second, as we have moved to one inside service, we have found physical distancing to be difficult. To alleviate that, we will begin seating a few folks each week in the choir loft, relieving the "crunch" in appropriately-spaced chairs. We also will open up an overflow room in the fellowship hall when we reach capacity in the sanctuary (50-55 people). This will hopefully be a video feed of the service, but will at least be an audio feed.

Third, another part of the governor's announcement Friday is that masks are required to be worn by those 5 and up. It was previously 10 and up. This is a requirement that does apply to church services like ours.

Grace Hills has done an amazing job these many months showing our love for one another and our community. Let's keep it up!

As always, if you do not feel safe attending in-person, we hope you will join us online as we stream our service. Alternatively, if you would rather receive the service via CD, call the church office at 434-352-8847 and ask to be added to our CD list.

If you have any questions, please let us know!
